SUBJECT: SY 26-27 School Choice Recommendation

 

Per Board Policy 5113 it is recommended that the Board adopt a resolution to participate in school choice under ection 105 and section 105c under the following conditions:

 

Choice students will be considered with no caps on enrollment for students entering grades 6 - 9, as well as students wishing to enroll at the Alternative High School. The application window for submitting a choice application for these grades will be June 16 - August 21.

 

Choice students will be considered up to the following maximum number of students at the following grade levels:

 

 

If there are more applicants for a given grade level than the number of spaces available, priority will be given to a sibling of a student already enrolled in Cassopolis Public Schools. Any remaining vacancies will be filled using a random selection process. The application window for submitting a choice application for the above listed grades will be July 13 - August 11.

 

Choice applications for new students entering grade 4 will not be considered.

 

It is further recommended that the school choice window for section 105 and 105c not be re-opened for the second semester of school year 26-27. Students who do not have residency within the district and wish to apply for enrollment after the first day of school may request a release from their district of residence. Acceptance of students submitting a release from their district of residence will be at the discretion of the Superintendent or designee.
